Mozaik Live From the Powerhouse
Released: April 6, 2004
Label: Compass
Live From the Powerhouse captures all of rush of that first
tour [in Australia]: five brilliant artists from distinct
traditions interacting, fusing their respective influences
into a new kind of global stringband hybrid. With layers
of strings – some chiming, some bowed, some strummed
– supporting clarinets, whistles, pipes, and Andy
and Bruce’s plaintive vocals, the reason for the name
Mozaik becomes clear: the individual sonic tiles paint a
picture bigger than their individual contributions. Now
on the cusp of their first-ever US tour (with Scottish guitar
wizard Tony McManus in the place of Lunny) and the release
of Live from the Powerhouse set for April 6th, Mozaik are
prepared to take their place at the forefront of the ever-evolving
stringband continuum.
